Etinger Consulting
As part of a larger identity project, Etinger Consulting needed a portfolio site that would help in obtaining more clients. In collaboration with a graphic designer, the site was built from initial concept, to design and layout, to implementation using clean and simple code.
Tektronix
Initially hired by Tektronix as a web design contractor, I supported account managers locally and abroad to build email-compliant newsletters, one-off emails, and web forms to support global marketing campaigns. Assistance was also given to redesign and implement tek.com to be up-to-date with the latest web standards and have a fresh-looking design. Upon new product launch, responsibility was taken to create new XHTML pages and build new emarketing material to promote the product. Upon being hired as a full-time employee at Tektronix, I took additional responsibility in managing Tektronix’s Amazon store. I continue to help improve Tektronix’s website by converting it to Drupal CMS and enhancing the user experience by adding new features to the site.
Yesmail
Hired on as a web designer at one of the leading eMail marketing company, main responsibilities included working with graphic designers and building personalized marketing emails in a fast-paced production environment for clients such as HP, Kodak, and Etrade. Contribution was made to develop efficient work methods that helped in obtaining addition business from their well-known clientele.
World Action Foundation
Building a site for the World Action Foundation, a non-profit agency, was a pleasure. The organization was a start-up and needed a site to promote their foundation that helps the children of Ghana get off the streets and into education. Taking elements that represented Africa, the site was designed with Photoshop and built with XHTML and CSS. A dynamic photo gallery was also implemented to show what impact they have made through their projects and fundraisers.
Private Reserve Guitars
The client needed a site to promote their high-end guitars. With the client knowing what kind of design direction they wanted to go, main responsibility of this project was to complete the design, build out the pages, and work with the web programmers to make the site dynamic using their own templating language. The home page included a Flash piece that was driven by XML content so the client can promote their weekly sales more efficiently.
World Forestry Center
As an intern with LiquidBook, a local web development company, there was opportunity to work on the World Forestry Center’s (WFC) website. At the time, WFC was in a restructuring process. They needed a website reminiscent of the museum experience. Flow charts and outlines were created to form the navigational structure of the site. Felipe, the owner of LiquidBook, created a content management system using PHP and MySQL. As part of my internship experience, system development methods were learned. Other main responsibilities as an intern were to assist in creating an online registration system and to make sure the information architecture and code looked clean when the site was updated by the WFC staff through Macromedia Contribute.
PKIDs
While attending The Art Institute of Portland, a group of students from various programs who included graphic designers, computer animators, and other multimedia students built a Flash application for Parents of Kids with Infectious Diseases (PKIDs). The client wanted an application that taught people how to wash their hands properly. With this tool, kids and parents alike would learn where germs come from, the most common types of germs, and how to wash your hands properly to kill the germs. As part of the technical team in the group, I was responsible for putting the animations and graphics together using ActionScript. I also did the lipsynching of the characters and the small interactions using the same technology. This project gave great exposure to working on projects of this size in a team-working environment.
